Opposing fan bases have let Florida State football fans have it after four-star linebacker Gregory Batson decided to de-commit from the program. There seems to always be negativity in the room when discussing the Seminoles these days.

The program is in a mess, having gone 7-17 over the past two years. It isn't your dad's Seminoles anymore. Head coach Mike Norvell has been through so much turmoil that he has to climb out of it again. He is like a cock roach to some of the fan base, where he just doesn't go away.

This should be a piece highlighting all the negatives, since Florida State has been successful on the recruiting trail lately. They got four-star running back Jayden Miles, four-star wide receiver Sean Green, four-star Jernard Albright, three-star quarterback Logan Flaherty, and three-star defensive end Eric Vaulx Jr. There will still be people out there who call Mike Norvell and Florida State "three-star U".

Florida State's Director of Recruiting Devin Rispress hinted at more good news coming soon for the Seminoles with this recent tweet.

This got the wheels turning for me, as Florida State continues its success on the trail. Here are some potential candidates that he could be hinting at with the tweet.

3-star LB Olrick Johnson III

Florida State had four-star linebacker target Gregory Batson decommit from the class. He has been pledged since November of last year. It was originally thought that the Seminoles would shut the recruitment down for the talented linebacker and get him to cancel the visit, but it trended in the wrong direction. Florida State hosted three-star linebacker Olrick Johnson III from Kennesaw, Georgia, this past weekend. Johnson III is announcing his commitment tonight between Florida State, NC State, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Nebraska, and Virginia Tech at 8:30 PM EST.

3-star RB Marquis Fennell

Florida State got the pledge of four-star running back Jayden Miles from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, recently, and this got Seminole fans excited. However, it doesn't seem like the coaching staff is finished with the position, as they are going after three-star Marquis Fennell from Valdosta, Georgia. He is supposed to be committing on June 25th between Florida State, Colorado, Stanford, and Georgia Tech. Fennell took an official visit with the Seminoles this past weekend. His pledge could come sooner.

3-star DL Jason Lewis

Yes, I mentioned another three-star prospect. There was an article that I wrote about the Seminoles' coaching staff not star-gazing. Florida State must know its limits during this difficult time with its losing woes. With that said, I always thought that the Seminoles should prioritize the trenches. That is where you win football games. Just ask the arch-rival Miami Hurricanes (maybe just not ACC Championships). Florida State added eight defensive linemen in the 2026 class, and they could add a talented one for the 2027 version with three-star defensive lineman Jason Lewis, who could decide to commit sooner than July 11th. He has two crystal ball predictions in favor of the Seminoles.
