FSU recruiting can get a much-needed spark by landing 3-star EDGE target

There are a lot of unknowns regarding FSU football right now ("thank you" Michael Alford), but the recruiting calendar changes for no one and the Early Signing Period will still be in mid-December.

FSU still has some needs in the recruiting class and as the days go by it seems like filling these needs will be less likely. However, Chris Carbin, a 3-star edge prospect from the Atlanta area, is still a target that mentions the Seminoles among his top programs.

Where does FSU currently stand with Carbin?

Carbin recently de-committed from Georgia Tech and took an official visit to Tallahassee a week later for the Pitt game. Coming off that visit, it seemed like Carbin was leaning toward FSU and mentioned to 247Sports that the Seminole coaching staff was putting the hard press on him.

Since the visit, Carbin seems to have decided to play his recruitment closer to the vest, and doesn't want to name any leaders. However, he still seems to have some love for the program.

"I love Florida State....you know, right now, I'm not leaning toward any team right now. Loving this recruitment, I'm just enjoying this recruitment. I've been talking to them though, they've been on me a lot. So we'll see how that goes."

Carbin's recruitment seems to be going strong as he mentioned definitely taking visits to Auburn and Tennessee, while also looking into Michigan. So if there were any thoughts of this being an easy recruitment for FSU, that's likely not going to be the case.

What does the FSU's EDGE board look like?

Carbin is probably FSU's top target and beyond that it's hard to say. The class is also in desperate need of a real offensive tackle prospect and maybe a running back, so there's a lot left to do.

Syracuse commit Kamron Wilson is another prospect the staff has been on for a while. Wilson, a 3-star EDGE from Miami, was on an unofficial visit for the Miami game and locked in an official visit for the Virginia Tech game (November 15), but again, we'll see if that happens.

There's also USF commit Jaemin Pinckney, who has added a few offers. FSU and South Carolina seem to be the two programs that stick out, and he'll also be on an official visit to Tallahassee for Virginia Tech weekend.
