Disaster? FSU staff will have recruits taking official visits at Wake Forest game

Whew, this probably won't be a positive experience for these young men.

The FSU football staff will continue to operate with business as usual after the statement released by FSU Athletic Director Michael Alford on Monday. We spoke about the fallout of deciding not to fire Mike Norvell after the loss to Stanford on Tuesday.

One thing will be the negative toxicity from the crowd when they host the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Saturday, November 1st. There will likely be boos from the crowd once Mike Norvell’s introduction takes place. There will be plenty of boos if FSU starts out slow and gets behind early.

That will be bad enough, but the FSU coaching staff will have at least two recruits taking official visits during that weekend:

Qwantavius Wiggins is a three-star running back from the Peach State. FSU doesn’t have any running backs committed for the 2026 recruiting cycle. They also don’t have any defensive ends committed, and will have three-star Damaad Lewis taking an official visit that weekend.

We know the staff can’t quit recruiting, but it’s gotta feel awfully empty knowing they likely won’t have a job in 5-6 weeks. What’s the likelihood of these players committing to FSU knowing Mike Norvell probably won’t be at FSU in 2026, barring a miracle of some sort?

We hope the atmosphere isn't terrible and the young men have a great experience. It's an impossible situation to be in. Maybe FSU can put it together and pull off a win and surprise everyone? That likely won't affect the changes that will happen, but at least that would help alleviate some of the negativity surrounding the program.
