FSU recruit who had 'shut down' his recruitment sets up an official visit elsewhere

The dominoes gonna start falling at some point whether he's fired or not

College football recruiting can change quickly, and that looks to be what’s happening with the 2026 FSU football recruiting class.

Several players commented that they had “shut down” their recruitment over the summer months, and one of them was linebacker commit Karon Maycock.

The South Florida three-star linebacker committed to FSU in February and reaffirmed his commitment in mid-July. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore now that FSU has lost four consecutive games and Mike Norvell is on the hottest of hot seats in Tallahassee.

Maycock will take an official visit to Texas next weekend. He took official visits to FSU, Alabama, Syracuse, and Florida over the summer.

On one hand, folks want the young man to honor his word, but at the same time, it’s understandable he would want to keep his options open now that the writing may be on the wall for Mike Norvell and his staff. Maycock taking the official visit isn’t a great sign he’ll stay in the class, but he hasn’t de-committed yet.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Miami make another run for Maycock's commitment since he's from Miami. People wanted Mike Norvell fired, but the recruiting class would fall apart if that happens, and it's going to likely fall apart regardless, unless they somehow start winning some games.

Is there a miniscule chance FSU could start doing that over the next five games? It's unlikely after what we saw at Stanford, but there were several players banged up on the game too.

It's likely the majority of the recruiting class will start to look around, especially if FSU loses to Wake Forest next week.
