FSU plans to host TWO transfer quarterback targets on Sunday?

If you thought the transfer portal would be crazy, you were right. The portal officially opened on Friday, and Florida State has been active with several visitors and one acquisition thus far. One of the biggest transfer portal needs is a quarterback, and FSU is leaving no stone unturned as it looks to secure a top target early in the process.

UNLV’s Anthony Colandrea has been a top target since he announced intentions to enter the transfer portal. However, an unlikely target emerged on Saturday in Florida’s DJ Lagway.

At first, I thought the news of interest in Lagway was to put pressure on Colandrea to visit and make a move. It looks like that notion was right, as news broke that Colandrea would take his first visit to FSU on Sunday. However, things got weird when news broke later that Lagway would also visit FSU on Sunday.

Both guys seem to fit Malzhan’s offense, though Colandrea is the less heralded of the two; but he has better overall production. He’s also a much better runner, less turnover prone, and doesn’t have the injury history of Lagway.

It all comes down to who is the best fit, best leader, and what the price tag is. I’m honestly shocked that Lagway is in the conversation, and it has nothing to do with him playing at Florida the last two years. He’s been much more hype than anything else, and I would be surprised to see Mike Norvell bet on him to save his career at FSU. He also has two years of eligibility remaining, and that probably means they don’t care much for redshirt freshman Kevin Sperry.  

Colandrea only has one year of eligibility left. I’m not sure who’ll visit first, but my guess would be Colandrea since news broke that he’d visit first. It’ll be interesting to see how the staff plays it. Would they cancel Lagway’s visit if Colandrea said yes to them? Is that the play all along, to put pressure on Colandrea?
