FSU football coaches need pass rushers in the 2026 recruiting class, and one of their targets came off of the board late Thursday night when three-star Chris Addison committed to Michigan State. Addison played his high school ball in Louisiana.
Another target was three-star Katrell Webb from nearby Georgia, who planned to announce his commitment on the 4th of July. His three finalists were Florida State, Indiana, and Purdue, with FSU having the final official visit on June 15.
Thank you God, big thanks and shouts out to my family members, coaches and teammates. The process has been amazing. I’ve been through it all and I am a true testament of following Gods greater plan! With that being said i will be committing July 4th! Wheres home!?! pic.twitter.com/ZcuEhySgre

Webb never announced a commitment and told Noles247 he pushed his commitment date back to July 12th.
FSU also had the final official visit with Addison on June 20th. It would seem FSU coaches waited to see what Addison would do before turning up the heat on Webb when it became clearer that Addison may go up north, which is why Webb delayed his commitment. I don't study commitment edits, but Indiana was in the middle when he announced his commitment date for July 4th.
Ironically, Webb rates slightly higher than Addison in the composite rankings. Addison is more developed at 250 pounds compared to 235 for Webb, but Webb is by far the more productive player in high school.
Webb hails from Travis Hunter's old high school which probably gives PTSD to some FSU fans. However, I'd prefer a Georgia player to one from Louisiana since the Peach State is in FSU's backyard. Also, Webb has many more offers, including one from Stanford, which tells you he has a good head on his shoulders.
It's not as simple as FSU beating Indiana and Purdue in a recruiting battle since those teams have money to allocate how they see fit. They may offer more than what FSU believes he's worth, and that may have been what happened with Michigan State and Addison.
The recruiting game is all about value and player acquisition, but it looks like Webb's commitment delay favors FSU for now.
