Kamil Loud’s recruitment is still wide open. The 2027 four-star cornerback has only just named his finalists on Tuesday, and that list still features six programs heading into his official visits. Florida State was featured in Loud’s announcement with Auburn, Cal, Miami, Utah, and Washington.Â

However, even as one of the finalists, it appears as though Florida State will have a tough time prying the Bishop Gorman product away from the West Coast.Â
Loud has three official visits scheduled for this summer, one to Washington on May 29, another to Arizona State on June 5, and the final to Utah on June 13. According to the Rivals prediction machine, Arizona State, Utah, and Washington are leading the way as his most likely landing spots with 32, 28, and 24 percent chances, respectively.Â
Kamil Loud keeps FSU in the mix after April unofficial visit
While Loud does not have an OV scheduled to Tallahassee, the 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back took a trip to FSU on April 11 after receiving an offer from the Seminoles in January. At the time, the Noles appeared to be looming as a dark horse in Loud’s recruitment, as mentioned by 247Sports Tom Loy, but there hasn’t been much buzz since.Â
The 357th-ranked player in the country and 39th-ranked cornerback by Rivals Industry, Loud fits the mold of the long, rangy cornerbacks that FSU has prioritized in recent classes with Tony White as defensive coordinator. The Noles currently have one cornerback commit in the 2027 class, Dayon Cooper, who has a similar size profile at 6-foot, 180 pounds.Â
In last year’s class, FSU took two corners, 6-foot-1, 175-pound Chuck Kennon, and 6-foot-3, 200-pound Jordan Crutchfield. That style of bigger corner is necessary to run as much spot-drop zone as White is known for in his very multiple 3-3-5 defense. In 2025, 6-foot-1, 185-pound Ja’Bril Rawls excelled in that role, and this offseason, Norvell and White brought 6-foot-1, 180-pound Nehemiah Chandler from Georgia Tech to start opposite Rawls at corner.Â
The problem for FSU is that White’s defense isn’t the only one well-suited to Loud’s profile. Washington just sent two of the biggest cornerbacks into the 2026 NFL Draft in Tacario Davis and Ephesians Prysock. Loud isn’t quite their size, but if he chooses the Huskies, he could fit with new defensive coordinator Ryan Walters, who uses his larger defensive backs in a much different way than White, running a man-heavy scheme.Â
FSU needs to add more at cornerback in the 2027 class than just Cooper, and Loud makes sense as a target. Still, the next cornerback commit is much more likely to come from Florida or the nearby area than Las Vegas, especially with such mutual West Coast interest in Loud’s recruitment.
