FSU looking for tight ends in the portal, it's a bad sign if they target this one

Keep that drama elsewhere, please, and thank you.

FSU has its two most productive tight ends in the transfer portal, Randy Pittman and Landen Thomas. There has been some smoke that Pittman could return, as the UCF transfer was one of the better offensive players on the team in 2025. We’ll see if that comes to fruition.

FSU will probably take at least one tight end from the transfer portal either way. One player that some sites have mentioned is a former FSU recruiting target who signed with UCF out of high school. Former four-star Kylan Fox and he announced plans to enter the transfer portal earlier this month.

Thomas and Fox were in the same recruiting class, and FSU looked to sign both, but Fox decided to commit to Gus Malzahn and UCF in July 2023, with Thomas already committed to FSU since April that year.

Fox’s mom was vocal on social media about FSU during that time (and continues to be). If you’re familiar with the drama with former FSU QB commit Chris Parsons’ dad on social media, this would be similar to the female version. When I say she’s vocal on social media:

That was during the first quarter of the Alabama game, where FSU went on to put up 31 points to upset Alabama in the season opener. I been doing this for a long time and can point to a trillion examples of how these situations almost never work out. It's always going to be someone else's fault if the young man doesn't find success.

Fox had 16 receptions for 137 yards with UCF this year, but was surpassed by former three-star Maryland transfer Dylan Wade. Wade had 43 receptions for 523 yards and five touchdowns.

The writing was on the wall, so it's no surprise he’s in the transfer portal. Considering her comments about Malzhan’s offense, I’d be surprised if they were interested in coming to FSU. Fox only had two receptions for 11 yards as a freshman in Malzahn’s offense in 2024. However, freshmen tight ends are rarely able to contribute that early.

The young man has talent, but FSU needs more production and experience from whoever they take in the portal(similar to Randy Pittman). I know there’s a prior relationship since FSU recruited him out of high school, but there will be better options.
