If we analyze all the raw and advanced stats, 2025 FSU is light-years better than the 2024 version, but it only has three more wins to show for it.
There’s no question it’s a better team overall. The offensive line is better. They have a go-to receiver in Duce Robinson. They have a solid running game, and the FSU defense is only allowing 20 ppg on average.
On a down-to-down basis, FSU is one of the better teams in college football. However, it’s when they face the critical situations that they fold like a wet T-shirt. The NC State game was a prime example.

FSU had multiple dropped passes, a muffed punt, and a dropped interception when it was crunch time. FSU players literally cracked under the pressure in all of those situations. Former legendary quarterback Jameis Winston earned his first start of the season last week and played well.
He will start again this week for the New York Giants and gave one of the best quotes that can be applied to FSU football in 2025:
"Pressure is for the unprepared. I am ready every single week to play."

“Pressure is for the unprepared.”That's such an appropriate quote for Mike Norvell and FSU. For whatever reason, FSU players have not been prepared to make the plays necessary to win football games. We can point to instances in nearly every loss that if players made plays, FSU would have won the game or at least had better opportunities to win.
Whether it's poor throwing mechanics or bad mental decisions. Whether it's not focusing to catch a pass that hits players in the hands. Its' on the coaches to prepare these players to make plays, and thats' the only thing holding FSU back.
They have enough talent to beat every team they played this year, but the lack of preparation caused them to fail when it's crunch time.
