Doak Campbell is fired up after FSU's strong first half against Alabama.

The opening drive of the game was definitely cause for worry, but FSU has punched Alabama in the mouth since then and enjoyed a nice 17-7 lead at halftime in front of a pumped-up crowd.

All summer, the coaches have said this was a different season and a different team and through one half they proved it. FSU looks faster and much more physical than last season. They have been able to establish the power run with Ousmane Kromah and the speed on the perimeter with Micahi Danzy and Jaylin Lucas.

Castellanos is walking that walk

All eyes were on Thomas Castellanos. He said what he said, and his teammates said they would have his back. But Castellanos was going to have to deliver, and he's done with his legs and his arm. The first test was in the first quarter with the Seminoles trailing 7-0.

Castellanos and the Seminoles' offense faced a third-and-long and Gus Malzahn dialed up a deep ball that Squirrel White hauled in for a first-and-goal. The next play, Castellanos called his own number and found the end zone from six yards out.

The Boston College transfer quarterback said he was going to be a difference maker, and he has been. Through one half, he is 7-of-8 for 81 yards passing and has 56 yards rushing. He challenged Alabama's manhood several weeks ago and is out there proving they aren't the same Crimson Tide.

Jumping on the Gus Bus

You know offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn is feeling it when he starts to dial up the gadget plays. There is a lot of perimeter for him to work with in Tallahassee and Micahi Danzy is a player that he wanted to get in some space.

When the opportunity presented itself in the second quarter, Malzahn called a reverse and Danzy knew what to do with it.

Now we know why Danzy made Bruce Feldman's list of college football freaks. The rain is coming down and Doak Campbell Stadium is at a fever pitch. You love to see it!
