If you let a small segment of FSU football fans on the internet tell it, FSU 2026 recruiting is cooked, and the class will suck. The FSU subscription sites are doing their fair share to influence that narrative since they seem out of the loop on most recruiting stories over the past year.

FSU has eight commits in its 2026 recruiting class, and the overall ranking is No. 17. No, it's not top 10, but the player rankings are not close to finished, and it's still early in the process.

FSU has more commits than Florida and one fewer than Miami. FSU is coming off its worst season in most of our lifetimes, and Miami had its best season in over a decade.

It's not like FSU isn't getting talent to visit because they have had a gazillion blue-chip players on campus this spring. Are there holes to fill at certain positions like quarterback? Yes, but the staff is maneuvering those waters and has options. Here's an example of how much work the staff has put in.

FSU has 65 official visitors set between May and June. Some are current commits, some haven't decided, and others are committed elsewhere.

Do I expect all 65 to show up? No, but I expect more official visits to get added as well.

Did the fan base forget how well this new staff performed over the final month in the Early Signing Period? FSU had a greater than 50 percent blue-chip ratio with its high school class. They also did better than most expected in the winter transfer portal.

Will FSU land a ton of elite guys after a 2-10 season? Probably not, but what team would unless it's Texas Tech just making it rain with NIL money? The 2026 recruiting class is likely taking the same approach as you, the FSU fan. They want to see the product on the field with this new staff.

If they go out and play respectable against Alabama or pull off the upset? We'll see a major shift in perception, and that'll be a selling point the coaches can use on the recruiting trail. However, right now, there's not much the coaches can do, aside from getting guys on campus to observe practice and build those relationships.

They're doing that at a fairly high level aside from a couple of spots, but there's still time to get guys on campus this spring. Once we get through the summer official visitors list, that'll provide a better barometer of where recruiting is than now.
