FSU football: What should the Seminoles do to fix the QB position?
What should Florida State football do to fix the quarterback position?
The Seminoles completed 10 of their 28 pass attempts for 88 yards and two interceptions in yesterday's embarrassing loss to Notre Dame.
-Brock Glenn: 5/18 for 51 yards and two interceptions
-Luke Kromenhoek: 5/8 for 37 yards
Many fans criticized veteran signal-caller DJ Uiagalelei for his play (he didn't play well) before he got hurt versus SMU. There were also individuals clamoring for redshirt freshman Brock Glenn. Then Glenn has continued to struggle, and now fans want another option in there.
The vicious cycle doesn't stop.
True freshman Luke Kromenhoek shows flashes, but he doesn't seem ready for the collegiate game yet. Now fans see what true freshman Trever Jackson has, but even though the youngster is mobile, do you think the offensive line will be able to block for him? Jackson is a preferred walk-on who was benched during his senior year of high school.
That is where we are as a fan base. Simply put, it is time to look in the mirror and say that the offense just isn't capable of moving the football with any quarterback. That falls strictly on the shoulders of head football coach Mike Norvell for constructing the roster and calling the plays.
The offense has been an utter disaster where they were only able to muster three points and 208 total yards. It seems likely that the Seminoles will have to grab a transfer signal-caller in the portal once again and continue the ever-lasting cycle of not grooming the position internally (other than the do-it-all Jordan Travis).
Florida State has one quarterback prospect in their 2024 cycle with four-star Tramell Jones from Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida. However, after the news of Florida head football coach Billy Napier staying in Gainesville, On3's Steve Wiltfong predicting that he would flip his pledge to the arch-rival Florida Gators.
As a result, the program would be left with the same three signal-callers on the roster in Brock Glenn, Luke Kromenhoek, and Trever Jackson if no one transfers out.
I'm frustrated, and quite frankly, we are ALL frustrated. This is not the standard at Florida State. As I have stated many times, this will be a pivotal offseason for head football coach Mike Norvell to turn this around.
