FSU football: UCF DT Lee Hunter enters portal, FSU should target heavily
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football lost its top two defensive tackles (Joshua Farmer and Darrell Jackson Jr.) as they declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. They lost one of their top reserves to the transfer portal(Grady Little).
FSU has Daniel Lyons and Kelvin Sampson, but both played reserve roles for the Noles in 2024.
They'll need to take the next step in 2025, but FSU likely needs a proven guy capable of wrecking shop consistently at the line of scrimmage in Tony White's new defensive 3-3-5 scheme.
A realistic target for the Noles announced Friday night that he plans to enter the transfer portal.
It's UCF defensive tackle Lee Hunter. Hunter is a former top 100 player nationally in the 2021 recruiting class. He originally signed with Auburn and Gus Malzahn and transferred to UCF when Gus Malzhan took that job in February 2021.
Hunter is 6'4" and 320 pounds with 45 tackles, 9.5 tackles for a loss, and a sack in 2024. He was on the second team of the All-Big 12 and has one year of eligibility remaining.
Malzahn has maximized his relationships with former UCF players or guys who played for him over the past few years. Thomas Castellanos has committed to FSU, and other UCF players have set up visits with the Noles.
Lee would provide immediate help in a position of need. He's originally from Mobile, Alabama, so moving to Tallahassee would be closer to home.
This one will be one to keep an eye on, and hopefully, FSU can get a visit set up and bring him into the fold.
