FSU football will wrap up its spring camp this week and the coaches will have exit interviews with all the players. The coaches will let the players know what they need to improve upon over the summer before fall camp, or if they don't see a future for them at FSU. The Spring Transfer Portal window opens on Wednesday, April 16 and closes on Friday, April 25th.
Some players may get contacted by other schools to influence them to enter the portal. Two players have announced they planned to enter the portal before this week finished. Neither are major surprises, as most of the best players usually enter the Winter Portal window so they can enroll and experience spring camp to get acclimated with new teammates and learn the offensive or defensive schemes to be effective in the season.

My colleague, Taylor Devers, wrote about potential needs for FSU football from the transfer portal here.
FSU added 16 players from the transfer portal during the Winter Transfer Window. Those players experienced spring camp, though a few had injuries that limited their ability to participate.
The downside to the Spring Transfer Window is these players have less time to form rapport with their teammates and coaches. They have less time to dive into the playbook to learn the schemes and get practice reps. That usually hampers players from maximizing their opportunity to produce at a high level, especially if they don't have much college experience.
How will FSU spend in the portal? Will they look for proven players from major programs, or players from smaller programs looking to make the leap forward? What will the quality of these players be? We've already seen a few proven players enter the portal over the past day. It could be those players realize there's an opportunity to cash in knowing teams don't have many quality options at most positions.
If FSU loses players, I wouldn't fret over it. Frankly, there are a few on the roster I wouldn't mind seeing leave to add more talent to the roster. Stay tuned to Chopchat as we update the departures and additions in real-time.
