FSU football: Top 3 long shot bets in ACC matchup against Duke
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football will look to start the second half of its disastrous 2024 season by extending its 20+ game winning streak against the Duke Blue Devils on Friday night. The Noles are +3 betting underdogs against Duke for the first time in history.
However, it's a good matchup for the Noles on paper. FSU has played much tougher opposition and should have an advantage on defense against Duke's offense in the trenches. I provided five reasons FSU will pull the mild upset against the Blue Devils on Thursday. Here are my top three long-shot bets that could hit in the game.
A long-shot bet is a bet of big odds with a decent chance to hit. A bet of -110 or -130 isn't a long-shot bet. We're talking bets with big + plus. Here's the first one:
FSU WR Hykeem Williams Anytime TD: +500
This bet wins if Hykeem Williams scores a touchdown any time during the game. If you were to bet $100, you'd win $500. FSU quarterback Brock Glenn seemed to like going to Hykeem Williams in his first start in the last game against Clemson. Duke's defense likes to bring pressure, which could leave their cornerbacks or safeties on islands, and Williams could be a prime target in the red zone since FSU has struggled to run the ball. Williams also has the speed to break a long run if he gets out in space.
FSU To Win by 1-6 points: +330
The oddsmakers believe this will be a low-scoring game with an over/under total of 42.5. It'll be the best defense Duke has faced all season, and FSU has made some changes on offense with two weeks to prepare for the game. My official prediction is 20-17, but a score up to 23-17 would win. If you bet $100, you'd win $330.
Duke TE Nick Dalmolin Anytime TD: +360
Duke has double the amount of passing touchdowns compared to rushing. FSU football has struggled to defend the tight end in the red zone, and Duke's Nick Dalmolin is a crafty senior who has two touchdowns (11 receptions) this season. I wouldn't be shocked to see Duke hit a pass to him for a score. If you bet $100, you'd win $360.
Please remember these are long shot bets and to bet responsibly!
