FSU football has been horrific during the 2024 season with losses to Georgia Tech, Boston College, Memphis, SMU, Clemson, and Duke. I can't believe that I would be write about a 1-6 team after they accomplished an undefeated regular season and conference championship in 2023.

But, here we are...

There are a lot of first's being done this year including Florida State losing to Duke for the first time in program history. We are not referring to the Seminoles losing to the Blue Devils in basketball either... This is football that we are talking about.

This year has been a mess. Quite frankly, I love this university and football program but this becomes increasingly difficult to write about a team that continues to self-implode in every single aspect.

However, on a positive note, there is a way to get out of rock bottom. Clean out the entire staff.

Look, I am not here to hold my pitchfork and call for people's jobs. However, something has to give as Florida State football is in danger of setting itself back for a decade. The Seminoles are still a top-fifteen program all-time in college football but this is not "The house that Bobby built".

Florida State is enduring a time where they are struggling on the field, doing renovations to Doak Campbell Stadium, building a football-only facility, and suing the conference. As we know, that is not cheap.

While I am not suggesting that Florida State is "poor", I am saying that it is a ton of sacrifice for a football program that is not seeing a return on its investment this year.

Nonetheless, with the financial situation, I don't think it would be a smart idea to fire head football coach Mike Norvell. Norvell's buyout is massive, and he had just went a combined 23-4 record the previous two seasons.

Even though Norvell expressed the idea of coaching staff continuity, I believe that it is time for the program to cut ties with many of its assistant coaches. There needs to be some voices within the team. Several individuals within the fan base wanted to see new assistant coaches after 2023, but I understand the sentiment of keeping the band together after the successful campaign.

In the past, Norvell has been very loyal to his coaching staff. I personally love that about him where he allows his coaches to grow. That is a great quality to have when trying to hire new individuals because he has a good reputation.

However, this is a make-or-break offseason where Norvell will have to make several changes to keep the football program afloat. Will Mike Norvell go against the grain and make the necessary adjustments?
