FSU football recruiting: Is a top-10 recruiting class possible after hot start?

Still a LOT of work to do, but we'll see.

Raise your hand if you thought that FSU would have the No. 13 recruiting class nationally after a 2-10 season? That’s where FSU sits, and has been even before its hot start to the 2025 season. So that begs the question, how much higher can FSU climb with several flip targets and a schedule fit that lines up for FSU to maximize its opportunities?

FSU will move to 3-0 after playing Kent State next week and travel to Virginia for its first road matchup on a Friday night. FSU will likely be the betting favorite against Virginia, and if they win that game, it sets an incredible opportunity for FSU to host a potential top 10 matchup against Miami.

FSU already has a who’s who of blue-chip targets slated to visit for that game. If FSU wins that game, it’ll move FSU to the odds-on favorite to win the ACC and make the College Football Playoff.

Are there enough top-tier guys remaining to thrust FSU into the top 10? Here’s a list of potential guys they could land or flip:

  • Derrek Cooper (blue-chip RB, Texas commit)
  • Javeion Cooper (blue-chip OT, Syracuse commit)
  • Jarius Rogers (blue-chip DE, Syracuse commit)
  • Duyon Forkpa Jr. (blue-chip LB, uncommitted)
  • Kamron Wilson (three-star DE, Syracuse commit)
  • Chris Carbin (three-star DE, Georgia Tech commit)

If FSU landed every single one of those players right now, it would put them just ahead of Michigan in the No. 10 spot. The only problem is Michigan and other teams could, and will likely add more players.

It's probably not likely for FSU to land every single one of those guys. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I would be surprised. However, if FSU continues to win, there's no telling if other highly-touted players committed elsewhere start taking FSU serious. We'll have to wait and see.
