FSU FOOTBALL RECRUITING
Florida State football recruiting has slowed down significantly after the early portion of July. This is disappointing because the Seminoles were discussed about potentially having a top-ten recruiting class by the end of the summer.
However, that doesn't seem to be in the cards as Florida State ranks as the 15th-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. While I am excited about pieces such as cornerback Chauncey Kennon, who was recently rated a consensus five-star prospect, there is still work to be done.
Nonetheless, the Seminoles have to put their head down and grind to attract the best of the best in the high school ranks. There are a few positions that I wish Florida State secured in their recruiting class, such as defensive end.
I like the haul that position coach Terrance Knighton has secured in the 2026 recruiting class, including James Carrington, Tico Crittendon, Earnest Rankins, and Wihtlley Cadeau. However, I wish that a true pass rusher had been picked up.
TARGETS TO MONITOR
The Seminoles were after a variety of prospects at one time, such as five-star Tristian Givens, four-star Jaquez Wilkes, four-star Jamarion Matthews, four-star Jarius Rodgers, four-star Zavion Griffin-Haynes, four-star DeAntony Lafayette, three-star Chris Addison, three-star Cam Brooks, three-star Keysaun Eleazer, three-star Kamron Wilson, and three-star Katrell Webb.
However, all of these recruits are committed to other institutions and are more difficult to flip. With that said, the Seminoles are putting their best foot forward by offering three-star Gustaf Henriks Ras recently.
The coaching staff has now offered three-star defensive end Chris Carbin (Georgia Tech commit) from Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Georgia. Carbin had 49 tackles (nine for loss) and six sacks during his junior season.
This is someone that I believe Florida State is targeting, but the talented pass rusher recently pledged to the Yellow Jackets on July 4th, so the Seminoles have to get him to buy in on an official visit during the season. I don't mind the offer because it tells me that the staff wants a true pass rusher in the class.
