The College Football Playoff committee dropped its first initial rankings of the season.

Breaking news: Florida State did not make the top-25 rankings.

This is obviously a joke, as the Florida State Seminoles possess a 1-8 record and have been one of the worst teams in college football.

The Seminoles' fan base has a tough relationship with the College Football Playoff committee, as they excluded an undefeated Florida State team in 2023 for a one-loss Alabama squad. They could ultimately be the main reason behind the fact that the 2024 version is struggling as much as they have.

I know that a ton of individuals are giving up on the season since the Seminoles had a 9.5 over/under win total in the preseason. What's even crazier is that the under hit after three weeks of play.

Florida State takes on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this Saturday on NBC at 7:30 PM EST. The Fighting Irish currently rank No. 10 in the College Football Playoff rankings.

It seems like the Seminole fans are not giving the program much of a chance. Quite frankly, I don't blame them, but Florida State is allowed to play well and upset them.

The Seminoles are 25-point underdogs to the Fighting Irish, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. That is quite embarrassing, given that this is the fifth year of the Mike Norvell era.

However, Notre Dame does have a loss on the season where they lost at home by a score of 16-14 against Northern Illinois, where the Huskies were 28.5-point underdogs to the Fighting Irish.

It is scary that Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard has done damage with his legs, where he has 539 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. With the Seminoles' offense struggling mightily, hopefully, the defensive unit still plays hard in a game that most are expecting to be a blowout.

I hope that Florida State can find a way to give a scare to the Fighting Irish's fan base on Saturday night. It won't fix anything with the 2024 season for the Seminoles, but it would at least give Florida State fans something to talk about in a positive light.
