FSU football coaches have signed a blue-chip quarterback in every recruiting cycle since the 2022 recruiting cycle. None of them have panned out for a variety of reasons, mostly because the FSU offensive line has been among the worst in the Power conferences.
However, now that FSU has a legitimate offensive line coach in Herb Hand, I expect the development of FSU quarterbacks to improve significantly since they will likely have a running game to protect them and adequate time to make decisions in the passing game.
FSU has already honed in on a couple of quality targets, but none rank higher than five-star Kavian Bryant from Palestine, Texas. Bryant received an FSU offer in January 2025 and visited Tallahassee a few weeks later.
Had a really good time @FSUFootball this weekend. Thanks for the love @Coach_Norvell @Coach_TokarzQB @CoachGusMalzahn pic.twitter.com/9GM2i3kT7b

Bryant ranks as the No. 35 player and No. 2 quarterback nationally. He stands at 6'2" and 190 pounds. Bryant would be an absolute cheat code in Gus Malzahn's offense. His production through his first two years in high school is off the charts.
He completed 82 percent of his passes (120 of 146) and threw 34 touchdowns against only three interceptions in 2024(sophomore year), and ran for 709 yards and 11 touchdowns. It looks like he could join the growing list of visitors for the season opener against Alabama.

The importance of that game continues to grow as more top targets plan to be there. It'll be a sellout crowd in a newly renovated stadium against a top opponent. It'll be the perfect atmosphere to make the biggest impression on players FSU needs on its sidelines.
Texas recently offered the in-state talent after he camped there this summer. It'll be a battle to capture a player of this caliber, but FSU has had some recent success in Texas, signing four-star Kevin Sperry in the 2025 recruiting class.
It'll be key for the Noles to have a dual-threat quarterback running the show in Thomas Castellanos. If Castellanos plays well, that'll be a great blueprint to pitch to Bryant about his potential in the offense.
Bryant is also a big-time basketball player with offers to play in college. Mike Norvell has allowed guys to play other sports. Micahi Danzy runs track, BJ Gibson plays baseball, and FSU has a 2026 commit who'll also play basketball at FSU if he signs.
There are a lot of positives for FSU, but how they play this year will be a huge factor in this recruitment.
