FSU football coaches have focused heavily on the transfer portal over the past month after finishing with a strong Early Signing Period for its 2025 high school recruiting class.
Mike Norvell and the new coaching hires did a great job of salvaging FSU's 2025 recruiting class. They will likely add 3-4 more players next month on National Signing Day (February 5th) but now have 20 signees.
FSU has the No. 21 class nationally, with 11 blue-chip players and one of the top kickers nationally. The best kickers don't receive blue-chip status, so it's 11 of 19 players for a 58 percent blue-chip ratio. How many teams can do that after finishing 2-10? Not many, and FSU coaches had 15 of the 20 players enroll early in the spring semester. Here are the 15 high school signees already on campus:
- Kevin Wynn-DT
- LaJesse Harrold-Edge
- Mario Nash Jr.-OL
- Jayvan Boggs-WR
- Chase Loftin-TE
- Tylon Lee-Edge
- Tae'shaun Gelsey-WR
- Darryll Desir-DE
- Mandrell Desir-DE
- Ethan Pritchard-LB
- Shamar Arnoux-DB
- Tyeland Coleman(JUCO)-DT
- Kevin Sperry-QB
- Max Redmon-Safety
- Jordan Scott (JUCO)-WR
Enrolling early in the spring is a big deal for these players because some expect to contribute in the 2025 season. Wynn, Boggs, Coleman, and Scott specifically increase their chances to contribute by going through spring camp.
It's also big for Sperry to learn the offense at QB and the rest of the guys to get acclimated to college life and hit the college strength and conditioning program. FSU added 16 transfer portal players who arrived this week, so that's 31 new players so far this spring.
That's a lot of newness enrolled who'll use the spring to help set the tone for the 2025 season.
