FSU football has been in several prime-time games over the past few years. They've played several this year despite the worst record in most of our lifetimes.
They were in one last weekend, but they were embarrassed in a blowout loss by Notre Dame 52-3.
I guess a 1-9 record is where television executives draw the line. FSU hosting Charleston Southern, a team nobody cares about doesn't help things. Games on the East Coast typically start at noon, 3:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., or 8 p.m. We've seen FSU play in games that start in the latter on the ACC Network.
However, we've never seen an FSU game start at 1:30 p.m.
It's not a bad thing since FSU football fans won't have to wait all day to watch a bad product. There could be a renewed interest since Mike Norvell fired three coaches on Sunday. There's also a real fear that FSU could lose this game, and that's something that was unfathomable before the season.
I wouldn't expect the product to be much improved, but this is a game where FSU has a tremendous advantage in overall talent. I know some folks believe Mike Norvell would get fired if they lost this game, but that's not gonna happen now that changes are underway. Make no mistake, it would be a fireable offense 99.9 percent of the time.
I know most fans checked out of the season after the poor start. If you're still tuning in, find the game on the ACC Network to see if FSU can find that elusive second win this season.
