FSU football shocked the world in the season opener, thumping Alabama 31-17, and looked like one of the best teams in the country. They rolled two lesser opponents before losing in double overtime in their first road game at Virginia last week.
Virginia went on the road and beat Louisville earlier Saturday, so they might be better than given credit for. However, the FSU offense has been nonexistent in the last few quarters. They couldn’t score a touchdown in either overtime period and only mustered a field goal on their opening drive against the Miami Hurricanes before finally scoring a fourth quarter touchdown in garbage time.
Miami led 28-3 early in the fourth quarter and the game never seemed close.
The FSU offense turned the ball over three times, often on bad decisions by FSU quarterback Thomas Castellanos. It felt like he started playing hero ball, taking off too quickly to run, and then throwing passes downfield that he had no business throwing when guys were wide open underneath.
A bad loss against Miami was the straw that broke the camel’s back to fire Willie Taggart during the 2019 season. That’s not going to happen this year, but FSU football fans have seen enough and what Mike Norvell out:
Fire Mike Norvell

Also please LMK when Mike Norvell is finally fired. No hard feelings we just aren’t going anywhere with him.

This is Mike’s make or break year for me. If he can’t even make it competitive vs a rival, after bringing in “his guys” at OC/DC, then he can go.

Yeaaaaa pack it up Mike.

Me being dumb enough to believe in Mike Norvell again after beating Alabama. pic.twitter.com/8beLKH7HCS

Mike should take 4th of his buyout if he was a man of character

Mike Norvell fans, what more do you need to see? This guy is a complete fraud and needs to be fired

I’m back on the fire Mike Norvell train, that Alabama game ain’t saving him. We’ve lost 7 straight ACC games and went 2-10 last season. Outside of the Jordan Travis years he’s been below .500, I’ve had enough of this treachery

The fans have a right to be upset, but he can’t go out there and make decisions for Tommy Castellanos. He isn’t calling the plays on offense or defense. These are the same coordinators everyone loved after FSU upset Alabama. FSU made the score closer than the game was with some late scoring in the fourth quarter, but some of that might have been Miami playing conservative on defense.
Who could FSU hire that we know for sure would bring FSU back to elite status? Who’s gonna pay that massive buyout? Folks want to blame the loss on recruiting, but the loss had nothing to do with recruiting. It was the sheer lack of execution. If it was recruiting, they would have had no shot against Alabama. It's fine to let emotions out, but Saturday night's performance was a culimation of bad decisions and poor execution.
