FSU will have a new quarterback leading the team in 2025, and it's a name familiar to FSU fans, Thomas Castellanos.

The Boston College transfer gave FSU fans nightmares over the past two years, nearly completing a come from behind win over the undefeated 2023 FSU team and rolling the 2024 team at Doak Campbell Stadium.

He's a guy Mike Norvell and FSU offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn know well, with the latter signing and coaching him at UCF before Castellanos transferred to Boston College for the 2023 season.

Castellanos is familiar with Malzahn's offense, which should be a better fit for his skillset than what Bill O'Brien had Castellanos doing at Boston College last season.

We saw a better passer, but less effective running from Castellanos in O'Brien's offense. The hope is that improvement as a passer will marry with Malzahn allowing Castellanos to use his legs more effectively than last year.

It's no secret FSU will want to run the ball, and Castellanos will play a major role. However, he will need to be an effective passer to maximize his ability to run.

Think of the transformation of Jordan Travis from 2020 to 2022. Travis could always makes plays with his legs, but his progression as a passer in 2022 is what began to put him on the radar of NFL teams before the 2023 season.

Castellanos will likely not play in the NFL, but has some tools that can help a team win a lot of football games. It's all about executing and not getting in predictable third and long passing downs.

There was a game in 2024 against Missouri that showed why Castellanos will bring excitement to FSU in 2025. There's footage in that game that should make FSU fans nervous to.

Let's go through some footage with some play-by-play analysis.
