FSU RECRUITING CLASS HAS BEEN GREAT

Florida State ranks as the 11th-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite. The Seminoles have been red-hot this summer after the fan base originally gave up on the program with recruiting under head football coach Mike Norvell.

One of the bigger commits that Florida State landed was four-star wide receiver Jasen Lopez from Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Hollywood, Florida because he was an 1,000-yard pass catcher and a point guard who averaged 25 points per game on the hardwood.

This was someone that both Coach Norvell and Coach Loucks could pass up, given the talent. However, it was a bit surprising at the time that Lopez picked the Seminoles, considering that the Miami Hurricanes were nearby and that the program had a 2-10 record in football last year.

RECRUITING IS CRAZY

Lopez made some interesting comments when he was reached out to about his commitment to the Seminoles.

I always refer to college football recruiting as the Wild West. It is something that always changes. Sometimes these teenagers, who are making the decisions, can't even make up their minds about what they want for dinner.

However, that is the reality of recruiting across the college football landscape. I hope that the House Settlement settles down the uncertainty of everything.

There have been many individuals on social media who have varying opinions on Lopez and his recruitment on Twitter (X).

Trust me, I get the concern of Lopez keeping his options open for his recruitment, even though he is committed to Florida State. I wish that Mike Norvell would implement a "no visit" policy for pledges like Dabo Swinney has at Clemson.

However, I realize that Norvell is headstrong about allowing these kids to enjoy their recruiting processes and finding the right fit for the Seminoles. Nonetheless, this is one of those prospects that you cannot lose because of his importance in football as well as basketball.
