So much for the narrative we thought could be possible regarding FSU coming out flat in the Kent State game. The FSU offense marched down the field with ease on its first possession, and the onslaught continued the entire game, just as it did against East Texas A&M two weeks ago. FSU blasted Kent State 66-10, and several players had standout performances. FSU tied its school record for poins in a quarter with 35 points in the first quarter.

Check out these eye-popping stats:

  • FSU had 775 total yards on 78 plays (9.9 yards per play)
  • FSU was 9 of 10 on third downs (90 percent)
  • Micahi Danzy had three touches for 176 yards and two touchdowns
  • Thomas Castellanos was 10 of 13 passing for 205 yards, averaging 15.9 yards per pass
  • FSU never punted in the game
  • FSU defense allowed 206 yards on 55 plays for 3.74 yards per play
  • FSU allowed 1.5 yards per rush

It was another game that saw a ton of reserves and walk-ons to earn playing time. The offense is so much better than last year it's not funny. I question if some of the explosive plays would have converted if they were playing against better competition. However, the offense looks nearly unstoppable, no matter who the opponent is.

There are some holes on the defense that I've noticed, and I wonder if they will come back to bite us agaisnt better QB play. The pass rush is something I'm wondering about too, especially against teams with good offensive lines. That will get tested next week on the road against Virginia.

However, the FSU offense looks so good right now that the FSU defense doesn't have to get stops every possession to win games.
