FSU football betting: Money coming in heavy on the Noles against Kent State

Bettors believe in the Noles again

A year ago, the Noles were profitable for bettors because they were easy to bet against, especially live. Now, the Noles have covered the spread in the first two games, and bettors are confident in FSU.

The Noles opened as 44.5-point favorites over Kent State, with the over/under at 55.5. That line moved to 45.5 in one day and should rise further after FSU beat East Texas A&M by 70+ points recently.

I’d caution folks to trust the Noles too much coming off a bye week. Kent State is terrible, but that’s still a lot of points, and we don’t know how Mike Norvell and the coaching staff will handle the roster. The over/under points total makes me leery, too.

The most important thing for FSU, other than winning, is getting out of the game injury-free. It’s likely they will use the game as a scrimmage of sorts to help build depth and develop younger players. FSU has two important games on the horizon.

They will play their first road game next week against Virginia on short rest, and host the rival Miami Hurricanes the week afterward. It’s likely the coaching staff spent the bye week and this week preparing for those two games.

If you were going to bet on this game, it might be worth looking at the points total instead of the spread. First-half bets or first-quarter bets could have some value. However, sometimes teams are rusty early coming out of the bye week.

Prop bets might have some value, depending on what you can find. Either way, it feels good to know FSU is a massive betting favorite like old times. Make sure you bet responsibly.
