FSU football: 2025 ACC Power Rankings after week six

Miami is the undisputed No. 1 now

The ACC has a clear No. 1 team at the top in the Miami Hurricanes after their win over Florida State on Saturday night in prime time. Miami doesn’t have many tests left on the regular schedule, but Mario Cristobal might pull a Cristobal. Which FSU will show up next week after back-to-back losses? The FSU offense has turned it over five times in those two losses, which is essentially the difference in 5-0 and 3-2.

They opened as more than a touchdown betting favorites over Pittsburgh. Clemson got a win against the lowly North Carolina Tarheels, so it’s tough to figure out if they fixed their offense or not. Virginia won another game in overtime, this time outlasting previously undefeated Louisville. Duke went to the West Coast and throttled California after a back-and-forth affair early.

Here are my updated ACC Power Rankings through six weeks:

  1. Miami (5-0)
  2. Georgia Tech (5-0) +1
  3. Virginia (5-1) +1
  4. Louisville (4-1)  -2
  5. Duke (4-2) +1
  6. FSU (3-2) -1
  7. SMU (3-2)
  8. NC State (4-2) +1
  9. California (4-2) -1
  10. Pittsburgh (3-2) +1
  11. Wake Forest (3-2) +1
  12. Syracuse (3-3) -2
  13. Clemson (2-3)
  14. Virginia Tech (2-4)
  15. North Carolina (2-3)
  16. Stanford (2-3)
  17. Boston College (1-4)

The week seven ACC slate is fairly weak. Pittsburgh travels to FSU, Stanford travels to SMU, Virginia Tech travels to Georgia Tech, NC State travels to Notre Dame, Wake Forest travels to Oregon State, and Clemson travels to Boston College.

We'll see how FSU responds to back-to-back losses. If they lose at home against Pittsburgh, that probably derails the rest of the expectations we had in the preseason. Virginia Tech has played better since firing its head coach, but it's doubtful they'll give Georgia Tech much trouble. Can NC State upset Notre Dame on the road? Wake Forest is a slight betting favorite on the road and Clemson will probably handle Boston College.
