FSU commit Mekhi Williams is still looking around and this past weekend the four-star defensive back was over 1,300 miles from his Tampa, Florida home taking an unofficial visit to Wisconsin.
The visit isn't much of a surprise because Williams had already committed to an official visit to the Madison campus in June, but his trip showed one of the interesting elements of today's college football world, where players are more likely to transfer from year-to-year.
Things will come down to official visits, but Saturday's trip to Madison was a good start for the #Badgers in their attempt to flip four-star DB Mekhi Williams from Florida State.

Mekhi Williams ran into former FSU DB Cai Bates while visiting Wisconsin
Williams was able to see Wisconsin's campus and catch up with some of the players on the Badgers' current roster, including defensive back Cai Bates, who spent the past two seasons at FSU. Williams told Nick Osen of 247Sports that he was able to talk with Bates about his experiences at both programs. It's another one of the unique aspects of recruiting that we don't often think about.
"I really enjoy the relationships that I was building with some of the players, like with Cai Bates," Williams told Osen. "He came from Florida State and I would be coming up from Florida, so I really enjoyed that with them."
The Badgers are among a host of schools trying to pry Williams away from the Seminoles and the athletic safety has not been shy about seeing as many programs as he can during this evaluation period. North Carolina and Miami are two other programs that host Williams on official visits.
Currently, Williams is the only blue-chip player in FSU's 2027 recruiting class and, right now, Mike Norvell doesn't have a ton of momentum on the trail, so it goes without saying that the Seminoles really need to keep this talented in-state player in the fold.
FSU is still FSU and I expect the recruiting momentum to pick up over the next couple of months, but the margin for error is very thin and Norvell can't afford the bad publicity that comes from losing the top player in the class.
Williams will take his official visit to Tallahassee on June 5 and let's hope that FSU can close the deal.
