FSU baseball (28-7, 11-4 ACC) couldn't have responded better to its three-game losing streak than sweeping the Virginia Tech Hokies on the road this weekend.
FSU swept a doubleheader on Saturday and completed the three-game sweep with a 4-2 victory on Sunday afternoon.
That's a top-25 ACC sweep on the road!! 🧹🧹🧹

It's ironic because Virginia Tech is the same team that swept Wake Forest a few weeks ago, and the Virginia Tech coach mentioned Florida State out of the blue after one of those wins.
#Hokies coach John Szefc on where his team stands:

“Our guys are good. [Wake Forest] has good players, I think we have better players. After last week, I keep saying it. I know a lot of people don’t believe it because we don’t have Florida State written across our chest.”
Wake Forest run-ruled FSU in the final two games of their series after getting walked off in the first game.
So, to put it together, FSU swept the Virginia Tech team, which swept the Wake Forest team, which took two of three games against FSU.
Virginia Tech had won three straight gains coming into the series and must have been confident with their chances after seeing how FSU performed against Wake Forest.
However, the starting pitching for FSU found its groove, with all three starters going at least 5.2 innings. The starting pitchers and the bullpen limited the walks problem that had emerged in recent weeks, and the FSU offense did enough to get the job done.
The doubleheader sweep was big, but showing some killer instinct and putting the Hokies away in the third game is a huge response to how they played last week. Virginia Tech ranked No. 25 nationally and the sweep should be a big boost to FSU's RPI numbers.
As I wrote after the losses to Wake Forest last week, the season wasn't over and it's all about execution. FSU played solid baseball all weekend and didn't beat themselves. Any good team gives themselves a chance to win when they do that.
There's still lots of room to improve as the Noles will host South Florida on Tuesday before hosting ACC preseason favorite Virginia. The Cavaliers have not had the season most expected, but they have talent. Here's to hoping the Noles go on a nice run of wins.
