FSU baseball’s midweek loss against the rival Florida Gators made it seem like their ACC matchup against Wake Forest on the road would be a tough series to win.
After all, Wake Forest has some high-octane pitchers, and they play in a crackjack ballpark where the home runs fly. Little did anyone know that it was FSU who would take advantage of the small ballpark and crank out home run after home run while its starting pitching and bullpen dominated Wake Forest.
FSU won the first game 10-0 in seven innings. They won the second game 2-0 and the third game 12-6 to sweep the No. 12 Demon Deacons on the road. It was their first series win against Wake Forest since 2022.
One media outlet gave FSU virtually no shot to win the series, as only one of 11 staff members from D1Baseball predicted FSU to win the series:

Big time series win for Link Jarrett and FSU baseball
FSU didn’t just win the series; they dominated it. FSU hit nine home runs, and FSU's starting pitchers went 19.1 innings, allowed one earned run, 32 K’s, 6 walks, a 0.47 ERA against Wake Forest. The bullpen was pretty much lights out as well.
FSU was the betting favorite on the road against Wake Forest in at least the last two games, so it's not as much of an upset as this media outlet would have you believe.
I didn't expect FSU to sweep Wake Forest, but knew they could win the series if they played well. They has been playing well until the Florida game, so it was good to see them step up as the competition was up to par.
They have a midweek game against Bethune-Cookman before welcoming NC State to Tallahassee for a big time showdown next weekend.
