FSU baseball added one of the better pitchers from the transfer portal a couple of days ago. It was the seventh pitcher of nine total additions from the transfer portal.
Friday, the Noles turned to the JUCO ranks to add some offensive firepower in the form of catcher Kaden Frommelt.

Hunter Carns is probably the future at the position, but FSU lost Jaxson West and an incoming high school commit in the 2025 MLB Draft. Frommelt hit well in JUCO, batting over .300 in over 80+ games.
His JUCO numbers are eerily similar to former JUCO signee Marco Dinges, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2024 MLB Draft.
Dinges had a monster season with the Noles in 2024, hitting 15 home runs and driving in 69 RBI. I'm adding this context for folks who don't understand there's great talent in the JUCO ranks.
FSU outfielder Chase Williams came from the JUCO ranks and played well while battling a shoulder injury for the Noles last season.
I could see Frommelt catching some to relieve Carnes or fitting into the DH role if he finds his swing at the DI level. He has solid gap power (17 doubles last season) with the potential to develop into more home run power.
Several FSU players have found their power strokes after arriving at FSU. Dinges, Max Williams, Alex Lodise, and Drew Faurot come to mind in recent years under Link Jarrett.
FSU has two offensive additions from the transfer portal, and Frommelt is the only JUCO offensive addition so far. FSU has some talented incoming freshmen, but I'd expect the coaching staff to try to add some more proven offensive production.
