FSU baseball ended its season just short of reaching the College World Series for the second straight year and lost another crop of talented players in the MLB Draft. FSU tied a record with 11 players drafted, several of whom came to FSU via the transfer portal.
Link Jarrett has some key homegrown players returning, like Myles Bailey, Cal Fisher, Hunter Carns, Payton Manca, and others. However, the transfer portal recruiting is a huge part of college baseball, much like college football, and Jarrett has done an outstanding job of building rosters over the past two seasons.
That work started shortly after the season ended, and Jarrett knew there was a premium on pitching in the portal. FSU added 10 players from the transfer portal and several others from the high school and JUCO ranks. When it was all said and done, FSU finished with the No. 4 transfer portal recruiting class:

Here's where those 10 players came from:
- INF Eli Putnam, Davidson
- LHP Trey Beard, FAU
- LHP Kevin Mebil, Barry (Division II)
- RHP Cade O'Leary, Mississippi State
- RHP Cole Stokes, Oregon
- RHP Bryson Moore, Virginia
- RHP Gabe Nard, Duke
- INF Gabe Fraser, Arkansas
- RHP Brodie Purcell, USC
- OF Brayden Dowd, USC
Putnam will provided some much needed offense. Beard will be a weekend starter on the mound. One thing that stands out the most is the amount of right-handed pitchers FSU took from the portal.
They took a ton of guys from proven programs, and nearly all of them have proven experience. The way baseball teams change so much year-to-year, it'll be interesting to see how the 2026 team takes shape. However, there's a lot to like about who's returning, and who's joining the program.
