FSU baseball (20-3, 5-1 ACC) won a big series over the rival Miami Hurricanes over the weekend on the road. However, they will not get a reprieve in the midweek game as they travel to Jacksonville to face the rival Florida Gators (18-8, 0-6 SEC).

The game will be on TV:

Florida handed the Noles their first loss a couple of weeks ago, with their lively pitching arms making FSU look ill-prepared at the plate aside from a couple of solo home runs. That loss looks worse now that the Gators are winless against all six SEC opponents who rank just above FSU in the national rankings.

Florida got swept by the Georgia Bulldogs over the weekend by scores of 7-8, 2-17, and 4-15. Frankly, they got embarrassed against Georgia and Tennessee, who also run-ruled them in one of three games.

These games can't be looked at the same since neither team will use their weekend starters. Both teams will likely use several pitchers, but Florida got the better end of that deal in the last matchup.

John Abraham will start on the mound for the Noles, while Florida will start a freshman, McCall Biemiller (a freshman dominated FSU for three innings of the previous game and got the win). It will be his first start this season, and he's only pitched five innings.

Abraham faced two batters in the last matchup and hit both before exiting the game without recording an out. He's struggled after a strong start to the season.

Can the FSU bats make adjustments from the last time they played? FSU seems to be hitting a bit better since the last matchup. However, they still struck out in nearly 26 percent of their at-bats against Miami. They pounded out hits but still didn't show enough patience at the plate.

I mentioned it as a key in the first matchup, and FSU batters chased a lot of pitches out of the strike zone. FSU pitchers issued way too many walks, and it cost the Noles. If FSU doesn't win this game, it's not the end of the world, but it would look better from a perception standpoint if they did avenge the previous loss.

If not, the narrative will be the top team in the ACC can't beat a team that hasn't won an SEC game yet. The game will begin at 6 p.m. E
