FSU linebacker commit Karon Maycock received an offer from Texas less than 24 hours ago and now the 4-star prospect from Miami will take an official visit to Austin next weekend.
Maycock has been committed to the Seminoles since February and shut down his recruitment over the summer. But as the circumstances surrounding FSU football have gotten increasingly complicated over the past few months, Maycock has decided to explore some other options.

Miami Central has been good to FSU for well over a decade now and that pipeline from Dade County to Tallahassee was expected to continue with Maycock. Once the 6-foot-1, 200-pound athlete committed to the Seminoles, he has been one of the most solid players in the class. He was on campus a few weeks ago for the Pitt game and even with the disappointing results that Saturday, Maycock wasn't thought to be a player to worry about.
But after last week's Stanford loss, the rumblings about Mike Norvell's status have gotten louder and, with the Early Signing Period a little more than a month away, it feels like FSU's top-15 recruiting class could be under siege.
How is FSU's linebacker class?
Overall, the linebacker class is solid, even with Maycock wavering. The Seminoles have a seemingly solid commitment from the top in-state player at the position, Izayia Williams, and he's going to be on campus for his official visit on November 15.
Williams is still recovering from a torn ACL that kept him out of action his senior year, but the timeline of his rehab could make him available for part of the spring. If Williams is fully healthy by next summer, he's going to be one of the true freshman that FSU will expect contributions from.
The Seminoles also have a commitment from Noah LaVallee, a bigger LB prospect that could grow into more of a true stay-at-home middle linebacker.
FSU is still on the hunt to build depth at the position and will be bringing in Arkansas commit Daylen Green on an official visit next weekend. Green, an in-state prospect from nearby Quincy, has been a long-time target and flip candidate for the Seminoles.
