Florida State's coaching staff has had a variety of prospects coming to campus over the past couple of weeks. It is important for the Seminoles to get an inside track on these 2027 recruits because the summer will be here before we know it for official visits.

Head football coach Mike Norvell was retained for the 2026 season, per the administration. As a result, the Seminoles will now have to ensure that it wins on the gridiron for the recruits that are interest in the program.

Florida State has struggled to gain sustainable success over the past couple of years under Norvell, but it could all change during the 2026 season.

Florida State head football look to be in the lead for four-star wide receiver Jabari Watkins

The Seminoles have to ensure that it acquires all of the homegrown talent in the area. They don't have to move far to find them. Head football coach Mike Norvell shows a high level of energy all the time, and it should result to him having success in the 2027 cycle.

We have discussed the fact that assistant coach Tim Harris Jr. does a phenomenal job in recruiting the wide receiver position. He landed six prospects at the position during the 2026 recruiting cycle.

Even though they haven't landed a wide receiver prospect in the 2027 cycle, they have their sets sight on four-star Jabari Watkins from Thomas County Central High School in Thomasville, Georgia, who visited the Seminoles on Junior Day this weekend.

Watkins had 55 receptions for 838 yards and 11 touchdowns during the 2025 season (according to MaxPreps). He was formerly committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, but it is now the Seminoles' time to deliver and land the nearby prospect.

He left the Junior Day visit with chopping it up with Coach Norvell, so it has to be a good sign that Watkins has the Seminoles in a good spot to land him.
