FSU football coaches have gotten hot on the recruiting trail with some big-time additions from the transfer portal at positions of need. They added a big offensive piece on Saturday afternoon when UCF tight end Randy Pittman committed to the Noles.
Pittman was on campus earlier this week and left without talking to any media. He visited some other places before announcing his commitment.
If the name rings a bell, Pittman is a former FSU commit in the 2023 recruiting class who de-committed and signed with UCF. He was productive in his two years, amassing 51 receptions for 631 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
His size and production are similar to those of former FSU tight end Jaheim Bell last year. Bell went on to get drafted by the New England Patriots.
Most importantly, Pittman's production came in Guz Malzahn's offense over the past two seasons. His familiarity with the offense is a plus and could help replace Amaree Williams if he decides to stay at the defensive end position after spring camp.
Pittman has two years of eligibility remaining, which also helps stabilize the recruiting room while allowing freshman Chase Loftin a year to develop without getting thrust into action too early.
Pittman showed great progression from years one to two, doubling his receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns.
Pittman's addition continues the trend of FSU coaches looking to add production over hype. It also helps Pittman have relationships with the old and new coaching staff.
If FSU can add a couple more offensive linemen and another weapon at wide receiver? This offense will likely look drastically different in 2025.
