Great performance!

Super Bowl LIX has several former FSU players playing in the game, but one in particular made his presence felt in the first half. Philadelphia Eagle defensive end Josh Sweat went into beast mode with four tackles, 1.5 sacks, and two quarterback hits.

His performance was part of a masterful first-half shutout by the Philadelphia Eagles. They held the Chiefs to 23 total yards and forced Patrick Mahomes to throw two interceptions.

Kansas City only got one first down and was 0-6 on third downs. Mahomes took three sacks, got hit seven times, and only had 33 passing yards on six completions.

Check out the reactions to Josh Sweat on social media during halftime:

Josh Sweat is a former five-star recruit who suffered a horrific leg injury in high school, but former FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher never gave up hope and continued to recruit him.

Sweat arrived at FSU as part of the 2015 recruiting class and probably played too early off that leg injury. However, his play got him drafted in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.

He made the Pro Bowl in 2021 and has been the definition of consistent since 2021. He has had 40+ tackles, and at least 6.5+ sacks every season since that year.

The Eagles' defense took advantage of their defensive performance and took a 24-0 lead into halftime. It's the second-largest halftime margin ever in a Super Bowl.

If the Eagles hold on for the win, it'll be their first Super Bowl win since 2018 when the Eagles defeated Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. A win would avenge a previous Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023.

I know Mike Norvell didn't coach Josh Sweat at FSU, but I'd be using these highlights like crazy on the recruiting trails, along with Jared Verse winning NFL Defensive of the Year.
