Florida State football is well-represented in the NFL Playoffs this year. The Seminoles are a championship-caliber program that is known for putting players in the league.
In the words of former Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey: "If you are a recruit and you ain't going to FSU, then what are you doing?" This remains true as the Seminoles are a destination spot if someone wants a higher chance to be an NFL player.
One player that benefitted from that was former defensive end Josh Sweat, who played for the Seminoles from 2015-2017. He was considered a five-star prospect in the 2015 class. He suffered a gruesome injury in high school, but Florida State stuck by his side through the adversity.
It paid off for Sweat as he recorded 138 total tackles (30 for loss) and 14.5 sacks during his three-year career with the Seminoles. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Sweat has had a memorable 2024 season for the Eagles as he has accumulated 41 tackles and eight sacks. The defensive end and the Eagles take on the Green Bay Packers at home today at 4:30 PM EST on FOX.
The Eagles and Packers faced off in the season opener, where the Eagles won the contest by a score of 34-29. It is notable to mention that quarterback Jalen Hurts is returning from a concussion. Defensive end Josh Sweat only had one tackle against the Packers in the matchup. He has also only recorded one sack in the past five games, so it looks like he is due for a sack.
Let's also remember that rookie wide receiver Johnny Wilson is on the Eagles too. He had three receptions for 24 yards in the season finale versus the Giants and has been known as a good blocker on the perimeter.
As a Florida State football fan, I will be cheering on both Sweat and Wilson to make a difference today.
