FSU football has a promising group of wide receivers that’s still largely unproven and needs a little more depth. That’s where former FSU wide receiver Destyn Hill would have potentially been a great piece going into the 2025 season.
Hill’s recruitment from high school will go down in FSU lore. He signed with FSU in the 2021 recruiting cycle as a four-star recruit from Louisiana, and it took him two years to resurface and get to Tallahassee after dealing with some issues off the field.
Most FSU fans gave up on Hill getting to FSU, but the entire fanbase got behind him when he showed up in the summer of 2023. He played a ton as a freshman and had two starts, but injuries limited his production.
I suppose he wanted to get closer to his family, and FSU just went 2-10 while he watched from the sidelines with an injury that cost him the entire 2024 season, so Hill entered the transfer portal and signed with LSU.
However, it appears Hill will not be among the projected starters, according to the latest reports out of Louisiana.
It looks like he’ll be among the backups in a loaded wide receiver room. Hill joins Patrick Payton as a former FSU player who transferred to FSU to become a backup. However, I think Hill could have made an impact in 2025 IF he could stay healthy. That was no guarantee since he struggled to stay healthy in his short stint in Tallahassee.
The Noles will rely heavily on Duce Robinson, Squirrel White, and freshman Jayvan Boggs, while hopefully, Lawayne McKoy and Elijah Moore find themselves in their second seasons at FSU..
