It seems Clint Trickett throwing the touchdown pass to Rashad Greene in the 2010 Oklahoma game that resulted in one of the loudest moments in Doak Campbell Stadium history was so long ago, and in other ways it wasn’t.
Trickett went on to transfer to West Virginia after two years at Florida State and went directly into the coaching profession after his playing days concluded. He’s the son of former FSU offensive line coach Rick Trickett, so it only makes sense.
Trickett started his coaching career in the JUCO ranks at East Mississippi Community College, home of the famed TV show “Last Chance U.” He’s quietly paid his dues, moving around to a couple of different places and absorbing information. He coached tight ends under Lane Kiffin at FAU before becoming the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under former FSU coach Willie Taggart, after Taggart took the FAU job once he got fired at FSU.
Trickett is one of a handful of former Noles who played for Jimbo Fisher now coaching in college
He coached at Marshall, ultimately becoming the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach before getting fired. He promptly found a job as tight ends coach and pass game coordinator at Georgia Southern before becoming the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Jacksonville State University under first-year head coach Charles Kelly. If that name rings a bell, Kelly coached at FSU with Jimbo Fisher while Trickett’s dad was the offensive line coach.
Clint Trickett left Jacksonville to take the quarterbacks coaching job at Arkansas in late December 2025. However, he has reportedly agreed to take the offensive coordinator job at Maryland:
UPDATE: According to a report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Maryland is expected to hire former Florida State QB Clint Trickett to be its offensive coordinator.

Trickett will turn 35 years old next month, and this will be his first job at the Power Four level (not counting Arkansas since he didn't really have a chance to coach in a game there).
Trickett has paid his dues at the lower levels of football with some help due to his family connections. However, he's also thought of as a bright offensive mind. He'll likely try to use the Maryland job as a stepping stone for a better opportunity. Congrats to a former Nole.
