Florida State football has struggled this season with an underwhelming campaign in 2024. However, the Seminoles' fan base can cling on to the professional ranks as they get to cheer on former football players with the university.
Some exciting news happened on Tuesday afternoon where FOX Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reported that the Browns plan to start former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston at signal-caller versus the Ravens.
It is absolutely devastating to see former Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson suffer a season-ending injury in the last contest against the Bengals. We at ChopChat hope that Watson has a speedy recovery from the injury.
The Browns have struggled this season where they have a 1-6 record on the year (just like the Seminoles...). This could be Jameis Winston's time to shine. The former No. 1 overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has had an up-and-down NFL career.
Winston won a Heisman Trophy with Florida State back in 2013. He was also able win the Seminoles' third national championship in program history. While I realize that the Alabama native was a polarizing figure, he knew how to win in college.
The former Seminole quarterback will have an opportunity to take on another Heisman Trophy winner in the ACC with former Louisville signal-caller Lamar Jackson. Hopefully, Winston will be to find some success in what looks to be a disastrous year for the Browns.
He completed 5 of his 11 pass attempts in the 21-14 loss to the Bengals. It was thought to be a positive that he was able to throw a touchdown pass to tight end David Njoku.
Fans thought that Winston should have gotten more opportunities with the Browns struggling this year. He will now have his chance to prove that he should have been inserted into the game plan sooner.
