Florida State finished 5-7 at the conclusion of the 2025 season. Let that sink in. This is a Seminole program that has won three national championships in the past 35 years. That should never be the standard of Florida State, a place that Bobby Bowden built.
However, there were quality players on the roster from a year ago that Florida State could not afford to lose. The defensive line and linebackers took a major hit this offseason, with players entering the transfer portal or simply not having the skill set needed to play in Tallahassee.
Either way, players transfer out all the time in college football nowadays, and it is becoming the new norm with them renegotiating contracts. Most fans are ready to see parameters on the issues, but until then, it will be the Wild West.
Former Florida State defensive tackle Nile Lawrence-Stample speaks on Kevin Wynn
When former players speak, you typically listen because Florida State accomplished so many milestones under Bobby Bowden and Jimbo Fisher. They brought championship trophies to this university.
Former Florida State defensive tackle Nile Lawrence-Stample went on Twitter (X) to discuss his thoughts on youngster Kevin Wynn, who entered the transfer portal but recently announced that he would be returning to the Seminoles in 2026.
Kevin Wynn is staying at FSU.

After watching him briefly last season, it’s clear he’s got the size, strength, and run-stopping ability we’ve been missing in the middle for a while. A good offseason of development I like him in 2026. 🍢🔥 pic.twitter.com/g8xuMPL4Rx
He stated in the post that he believes Wynn has the run-stopping ability that the Seminoles' defense has been missing in the middle for a while. Seminole fans saw how Florida running back Jadan Baugh had over 200 rushing yards in the finale against Florida State.
The defensive tackle was the Seminoles' highest-rated recruit in the Florida State 2025 class (according to 247Sports Composite). Rankings are cool and all, but he needs to showcase his talent on the field and improve a Tony White 3-3-5 defense that looked confused and out of position for much of last year.
