FSU football coaches have done some major work to acquire 22 commitments in the 2026 recruiting class. FSU has had several recruits with legacy ties to the program in this recruiting cycle.
FSU has commitments from legacy recruits: Devin Carter, Jay Timmons, and Michael Ionata. One recruit with a last name that rings a bell for FSU fans has been in the mix during this recruiting cycle. It's three-star athlete Jonah Winston, who's the younger brother of Former Heisman winner Jameis Winston. Winston has played quarterback like his older brother but will likely play receiver in college.
He recently posted that his recruitment was wide open:
My recruitment is 1000% open !!
— Jonah "JP" Winston (@Jpw2026) July 7, 2025
Will he end up in the class?
The percentages are low. FSU offered Winston in March 2023, and he visited campus three times that year. He was on campus for the Clemson game last season. FSU didn't have Winston take an official visit over the summer, and he hasn't taken any official visits anywhere.
FSU already has five blue-chip wide receivers committed, with two having a size similar to Winston. He's 5'9" and 155 pounds, ranked as the No. 555 player and No. 89 receiver nationally. Will FSU retain all five commits until the Early Signing Period? Who knows. One commitment seems shaky since he said he wasn't shutting his recruitment down after verbally committing to the Noles.
I suppose it might be possible for Winston to be a very late addition to the class if FSU lost 1-2 commits, but he doesn't seem to be a top priority now.
It wouldn't surprise me to see the Alabama product end up at Auburn since they are struggling on the recruiting trail and have no receivers committed right now.
