Florida State football is not in great shape as a program right now under current head football coach Mike Norvell, where it ended up going 2-10 in 2024 and 5-7 in 2025. This is not the standard of this proud university that is used to competing for championships.
The Seminoles have been going through misery ever since Jimbo Fisher left the program in 2017. Not only did Fisher leave the Christmas tree on the side of the road (I hope you caught the joke...), he also left the Florida State football team out to dry.
When Coach Fisher did that to chase the money that Texas A&M was offering, Florida State has been treading water for the past eight years, where they have only had two winning seasons.
Willie Taggart joined the New York Giants as an assistant coach
We at ChopChat recently wrote about the potential of the former Florida State head football coach Willie Taggart being an offensive coordinator for the New York Giants.
However, it was announced on Friday afternoon that Coach Taggart plans to become the next running backs coach for the Giants.

Given his relationship with the Harbaughs, this seemed like a solid fit for Taggart. However, it has to feel like a massive downgrade going from coaching the Baltimore Ravens' running backs with Derrick Henry to a New York Giants' backfield that won't have Cam Skattebo next season.
With that said, it is good that Taggart gets to work with talented backs Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary. Who knows, Harbaugh could bring another body into the position group this offseason. Fans recall that when he was at Florida State, his offenses were not very dynamic, and he had to give playcalling duties to then-offensive coordinator Walt Bell.
That is the disgusting fit that I was referring to in the article title. We at ChopChat hope that the former Florida State head football coach does well at his next destination, even though he is no longer in Tallahassee.
