Florida State football is in a disastrous spot right now as a program, where they went 2-10 in 2024 and 5-7 in 2025. Head football coach Mike Norvell has only had two winning seasons in six years during his time with the Seminoles.
Some members of the fan base disagreed with the decision to fire former Florida State head football coach Willie Taggart when he did, and the criticism intensified when Norvell continued to struggle on the field.
It should be mentioned that Coach Taggart genuinely cared about Florida State football and what they were all about, but he didn't have what it took to get the job done. You can say the same about Coach Norvell, and I would agree with you. I just believe that Florida State is in a position financially where they cannot afford to fire anyone right now if it is justifiable.
Willie Taggart could be landing an offensive coordinator job with the New York Giants
When former head football coach Willie Taggart was at Florida State, he preached "lethal simplicity" for the offense. However, the unit turned out to be a complete dumpster fire. While he was only there for one and a half seasons, Florida State ranked in the bottom 100s in total offense in his first season.
This prompted Taggart to hand the play-calling duties over to then-offensive coordinator Walt Bell (what a time to be alive). He then had a disastrous tenure with Florida Atlantic as a head football coach from 2020 to 2022, where he went a combined 15-18 record.
Given his ties to the Harbaugh family, he was allowed to be the running backs coach for the Baltimore Ravens. Then, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that the Giants have requested to interview Willie Taggart for their offensive coordinator role.

This is a strange request, as the Giants have quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cam Skattebo (who suffered a season-ending injury) to develop around offensively. The franchise has been struggling as of late, as it has only made the playoffs three times in the last 15 years.
Nonetheless, I am hoping that it works out for Coach Taggart and that he can have a successful career.
