Florida State baseball is off to an undefeated start in the 2025 season. The Seminoles were unfortunately eliminated by the Tennessee Volunteers in the College World Series last year. It left a bad taste in the mouths of many from the fan base.

Nonetheless, head baseball coach Link Jarrett seemed to have offensive weapons that he will never forget with James Tibbs III and Cam Smith. I mentioned the fact in a previous article that Smith was balling out with the Houston Astros in Spring Training.

The more impressive aspect is that Smith is continuing his tear in the spring with the organization.

Florida State baseball fans know about the fact that the former Seminole could hit a home run that could land in the parking lot after he hit 16 home runs a year ago, but some individuals might have been unfamiliar with his speed.

In the video above, posted by Michael Schwab, you can see Smith driving the triple off the wall to score three baserunners. I am certainly not guaranteeing that the former Seminole will make a difference this year since there is a long process to develop in the big leagues.

However, it looks like the Houston Astros have found themselves a gem that they could build their organization around who has the potential to be a good power hitter and someone who could drive in runs.

It will be exciting to see how Smith continues to develop his skill set over time. I know that he wants to show the Astros what he can do with his talents. I know that having a .571 batting average might be unsustainable, but it seems like he has started to catch his stride, and I hope he becomes a fan favorite in Houston like he was in Tallahassee.
