Florida State football exited the spring with question marks, as the Seminoles finished with a 5-7 record last season. The one position for certain is quarterback, where Florida State named former Stanford and Auburn transfer Ashton Daniels the starter.
Daniels will have a variety of playmakers to throw to, as veteran pass catcher Duce Robinson had unfinished business and decided to return to Florida State for the 2026 season. Robinson will have head coach Mike Norvell in charge of the play-calling duties, which could involve a heavy workload on the former USC transfer.
Robinson had over 1,000 receiving yards and six touchdowns last season, then there was a clear cut off between him and the next pass catcher, Micahi Danzy, who had 571 yards and three touchdowns (according to ESPN Stats and Information).
Lawayne McCoy out, Devin Carter in at wide receiver
The third-leading receiver, Lawayne McCoy, decided to transfer out of the program and sign with Louisville. The Seminoles have to play the Cardinals on the road during a Friday night tilt, so I am sure that McCoy will try to prove the doubters wrong and make Florida State pay for making him walk.
The talented former four-star prospect from Miami, Florida, showed flashes in Louisville's recent spring game the other weekend.

While it is just a spring game, you can see why McCoy was highly rated. With that said, there is a reason that the coaching staff decided to move on from him. He did have meaningful performances against North Carolina State and Florida, but both of the games were losses.
The Seminoles have got a ton of production out of Devin Carter, Jasen Lopez, and even Tae'Shaun Gelsey this spring at the wide receiver position, which makes Lawayne McCoy look like a thing of the past. Fans could even point to Jayvan Boggs's talent if he ever remains healthy.
