Florida State football had a miserable 2024 season, as they decided to pick up former Clemson and Oregon State quarterback transfer DJ Uiagalelei. The experiment didn't last long, as he suffered a season-ending injury in the matchup against SMU.

This was the start of the fan base not believing in head coach Mike Norvell. While most fans didn't think that they would be a College Football Playoff participant, there was a thought process that they stabilized the floor of the program enough that they could be an 8 or 9-win team.

However, as we later found out, the Seminoles fell flat on their faces with the 2-10 record. I never thought that I would see the day that Florida State ended up being that bad a college football squad.

Mike Norvell turned to youngster Luke Kromenhoek during the 2024 season

Fans noticed that veteran DJ Uiagalelei was not getting the job done, and there was a discussion of a potential youth movement happening before Uiagalelei went down with his injury.

The Seminoles decided to turn to the youngsters Brock Glenn and Luke Kromenhoek to finish out the year. Being so inexperienced, it was a roller coaster ride at the position. Glenn had 597 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions, while Kromenhoek had 502 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions (according to ESPN Stats and Information).

Kromenhoek was a former high four-star prospect from Savannah, Georgia, and he was someone that the fan base thought could change the fortunes of the program. However, the Georgia native ended up transferring to Mississippi State in the offseason just to be a backup.

The landscape of college football has changed significantly with the transfer portal, and Kromenhoek ended up transferring to South Florida this past offseason. With former coach Alex Golesh bringing his quarterback, Byrum Brown, to his new job at Auburn, it could open the door for Kromenhoek to play.

The Bulls recently began their spring practices, and it looks like Kromenhoek is standing out with his opportunities.

South Florida also added former LSU quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr. via the transfer portal this offseason, so head coach Brian Hartline could have a decision to make at the end of the spring. We at ChopChat are pulling for Kromenhoek to get his time to shine as a starter.
