Florida State didn't have the season that it wanted in 2025, as the team began the year on a high note after beating the Alabama Crimson Tide, but it proceeded to lose seven of its last nine games to not become bowl eligible.
The fan base as a whole is angry at the recent struggles of the program. The expectation is to compete for championships in Tallahassee, but six losing seasons in eight years don't exactly fit the description of competing for championships.
The offense had some explosiveness with quarterback Thomas Castellanos under center since he was able to have talented wide receiver Duce Robinson and Micahi Danzy out in space. However, the unit stalled when it mattered the most in the red zone.
Redshirt freshman Teriq Mallory looks to be making plays in practice
The star of the show was Duce Robinson last year. The former USC transfer was someone that former offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn could have leaned on. Robinson returned to the Seminoles for his senior season, but opposing teams will focus on the 6'6" pass catcher.
The Seminoles are always looking for wide receivers to emerge in the rotation. The coaching staff has raved about true freshman Devin Carter during spring practice. Everyone wants to talk about the newcomers, but what about the returnees who are back on the roster?
One wide receiver that Florida State football's social media team highlighted was a connection from the quarterback Kevin Sperry and wide receiver Teriq Mallory. The former three-star prospect from the 2025 cycle was someone the coaching staff grabbed from Connecticut.

Mallory has added some serious bulk to his frame this offseason, and he is listed at 6'5" and 213 pounds. I don't want to overreact to Kevin Sperry throwing a touchdown pass to him over the coverage of Zae Thomas and Jarvis Boatwright (who aren't in the starting rotation for defensive backs), but it is nice to see him make the play.
While the trio of Duce Robinson, Micahi Danzy, and Jayvan Boggs should be key members of the rotation, the Connecticut native is someone who could make waves in Year 2.
